Throwback Thursday: Four Years of Kelly Anza Hair Design!

Okay, to set the scene, it was May 2009, we had just rushed around for 4 weeks gathering everything we needed to create our very own baby salon, and Calvin Harris was number one in the charts (thought it's more likely that we were listening to the Juno soundtrack)...



Kelly, Lilly, Jack and Hannah had painted, sanded, dusted, cleaned, polished 12 Parade Street within an inch of it's life, and now, on Saturday May 16th, they could finally open the champagne, grab their scissors, and get to work on creating amazing hairstyles and happy clients - and since then, we haven't even stopped for a breather! Our team has tripled in size, we've moved premises, and added a nail bar, as well as gaining hundreds of new, amazing clients - who, of course, we could not do this without!

Here are a few of our favourite moments from the last 4 years...

It's been an amazing 4 years, full of beautiful brides, exciting events, sky dives, parties, lovely clients, bright hair, lots of laughter, short hair, charity fundraising, and many, many bottles of champagne - and without all of our amazing clients and friends that have supported us and we've met a long the way, we never could have gotten this far - thank you!

Paul Mitchell's Shines XG

Yesterday we were treated to an afternoon of colour training with the beautiful Gemma from Paul Mitchell for our new Shines XG Demi Permanent colour range.
 

Shine XG is a glossy, vibrant demi-permanent colours in a range over 41 different tones and shades! So far we're loving them, with the DYESmart system, they give deep, glossy colour that lasts upto 6-8 weeks, with more vibrancy than even our permanent colour range - what's not to love?

Our First Ever 'Girls' Night In'!

On Friday, we hosted our first ever Girls' Night In! It was a massive success and I'm pretty sure we enjoyed it as much as the girls that attended. They left looking lovely and we've heard back that they've been putting everything they've learnt into good use - good work ladies!

Wondering what on earth a Girls' Night In is? Well, it's a chance for you to round up some of your best friends, sisters, and cousins for a night of pampering! Remember those teenage sleepovers where you used to practice doing eachother make-up and smother yourselve in body glitter? It's nothing like that. It's much, much more fun...

You'll be greeted with a delicious glass of crisp, sparkling prosecco, and will have a chance to chat to our team of stylists about the looks you adore but just can't achieve yourself. Whether it's creating volume in limp locks, or smoothing down unruly manes, we've learnt every tip in the book and this is our chance to pass those tricks onto you. 

Once we know what you're trying to achieve, and you've had a good giggle and a gossip with the girls, we'll take you through washing your hair - easy, right? You do it in the shower everyday, right? Well, we'll show you how to get the most out of your hair products, and teach you a little about how what you in the shower, affects how your hair behaves when you get out - technical stuff, we know...

Next, we blow dry! Blow drying your hair at home is never going to be like when you're at the salon having someone else slaving away over a hot hairdryer, but we'll show you how to get the same look with half the effort. We'll do some, and then you'll do some, and you can watch your friends having theirs done too, so you can learn from all angles.

Now we have our canvas, we'll teach you and your friends how to create the styles and looks that you want. Whether it's fishtail plaits or gorgeous curls, we'll show you how to get the most out of your styling tools and products, and after some time to practice on yourself and the girls, we promise you that you'll leave with all the knowledge you need to fool your neighbours into thinking you've kidnapped your stylist and you're making her work for her keep... We won't tell if you don't.

Give and Make-Up!

January is one of those times when all of us tighten our purse strings and start being a little more careful about where our money goes - but it's also a time act on those resolutions, and one of our big ones is to be a little more caring and a little more selfless and charitable.

Each week two women in the United Kingdom are murdered by a partner or ex-partner. One woman in four experiences domestic violence in their lifetime. This is a charity close to our hearts, and all you have to do to contribute is send away any unwanted (and in good condition/not too used up) cosmetics, clothes and baby products.

We know that between us girls, we have tonnes of bottles of products and potions that we've tested, tried, and never touch again. What better way to get some use out of them than donate them to women that are much less fortunate than us?

SS13: The Minimal Hair Trend

We know we have 2 months of the bleakest, coldest, wettest weather of the year to look forward to, but come January we can't help but cast our eyes forward to Spring/Summer, from being able to bare our legs, wear sandals and chill on the beach to checking out a whole new trend, and the one to watch this summer is The Minimal Hair Trend.

Now, we're not talking minimal, as in balding, or even thin.
